The Changan Deepal S05 is a compact five-seat electric SUV that surprises with its premium feel and thoughtful design. Measuring roughly the size of a Honda CR-V, it comes in rear-wheel drive with a 303-mile range or all-wheel drive with a 278-mile range, both powered by a 68.8 kWh battery.
Inside, the cabin impresses with quality materials, a sliding 15.4-inch touchscreen, and clever technology including multi-zone voice control, gesture recognition, and a 14-speaker audio system. Seats are comfortable, with reclining and extendable footrests for long drives.
On the road, the rear-wheel drive model delivers 268 horsepower with confident handling, while the all-wheel drive version provides 430 horsepower for brisk acceleration. Charging is strong, with up to 200 kW DC and 11 kW AC, plus vehicle-to-load for powering external devices.
Pricing starts at £37,990 for the rear-wheel drive and £39,990 for the all-wheel drive, both backed by long-term warranties. Practical, tech-packed, and surprisingly luxurious for its class, the S05 makes a strong impression in the compact SUV segment.
